Brentwood

A wondrous city in Williamson County, Tennessee.

Welcome to Brentwood

Prior to the Civil War, Brentwood prospered after a railroad depot was established in what is now the downtown area. Cotton was the big cash crop, by far. The community in its earlier days was largely Methodist. In March of 1863, a decisive Confederate victory occurred when Brig. Gen Forrest cut telegraph wires, isolating the Union troops holding the town. Lt. Col. Bloodgood and his Union troops surrendered that very day after suffering 305 casualties. The Confederate forces lost but six of their men. After the war, tobacco emerged as the new dominant crop. The mid-20th century saw various historic plantation homes updated and restored. Horses and hunting became commonplace. Brentwood was incorporated as a city in 1969, just as the Interstate highway came through. Soon thereafter, the Maryland Farms office park was built.

Those that have invested in Brentwood real estate enjoy a plethora of parks in the area. The Deerwood Arboretum is located on 27-acres along the Little Harpeth River. Visitors marvel at the migratory birds, butterflies, wildflower meadow, and ponds. There’s also a bikeway and a hiking trail. Along the trail there are almost 70 tree species represented. Each is labeled and identified. The Nature Center on the grounds includes an outdoor classroom and an amphitheater.

A recent addition to the Brentwood park system is the Nutro Dog Park. The needs of dogs both large and small are addressed. Larger dogs weighing more than 25-lbs can cavort in a 1.5-acre fenced-in area. Smaller dogs also get a fenced-in area that measures 2/3 of an acre. Visitors will find water stations, hydrants, and shaded benches in the dog park. Overall, owners of Brentwood real estate enjoy an excellent city park system.

Of course, Brentwood residents often avail themselves of the top talent displayed at the Grand Ole Opry. The Bridgestone arena hosts top national acts and performers on a regular basis. Ryman Auditorium also features diverse entertainers throughout the year. Many nightspots and clubs feature talent drawn to Nashville’s music scene. This is, after all, where many new stars are born.

Susan Gregory will certainly confirm that homes for the discriminating Brentwood home buyer are readily available. Many all brick and/or stone two-story homes built in the 2000s will be available. Many offer 2,500 to 4,000 sq-ft of living space. Luxury mansions are also found among the Brentwood TN homes for sale. At the same time, there is a good selection of modest-priced Brentwood homes, condos, and townhomes. An established Brentwood realtor can assist you in identifying the areas of Brentwood that you might enjoy the most.
